A world in collapse – a journey in four acts – a final choice
The world is teetering on the edge of collapse. Humanity’s destiny is steered by an antiquated system blind to both human nature and the future. Power lies not with the intelligent, the creative, or the empathetic, but with those who cling to the past, guided more by ego than understanding.
As the line between physical and digital reality fades, an alien civilization makes one last attempt to rescue the planet. A group of youths — tempered by life’s most brutal tests yet unbroken — are entrusted with reshaping the world’s political leadership. Among them stands fourteen‑year‑old Gabriel, whose final task will determine everything: convincing the UN General Assembly to take an action that strikes at the core of democracy itself. Should he fail, his generation will be the last.
Gabriel’s final journey is a political relationship drama, where science fiction serves as a backdrop rather than a driving force. It is an autofictional meta‑novel in which the writing process is woven into the narrative, and the language shifts in step with the story. Parts of the books rest on scientific theories and are inspired by Thor‑Björn Bergman’s own life journey — a story about finding one’s voice in a world where no one listens.

THE AUTHOR
Thor-Björn Bergman has worked in the IT industry for nearly half a century. As early as the late 1970s, he developed his first computer program, and since then he has created around fifty advanced software systems — several of which have been groundbreaking in their respective fields. It is no coincidence that ThorBjörn sees a clear connection between complex algorithms, artificial intelligence, and the human genetic code. This becomes evident in his latest literary work: Gabriel’s Last Journey.
Thor‑Björn was one of the initiators of the tech network Codexus in Uppsala in the early 1980s and has served as its chairman since 2021. Through Codexus, he has continued to promote innovation and collaboration in research, technology, and software development. Over the past decade, Thor‑Björn has been involved in several research projects — including a classified American study examining the role of intelligence in forward‑thinking, democratic, and effective leadership. According to the study, AI‑based simulation models predict that humanity’s long‑term survival is seriously threatened by flawed power structures.
Parallel to his technical career, Thor‑Björn spent ten years in the film industry, where he produced around fifty films and reports focusing on abuse and its consequences — a project funded by the Stenbeck Foundation. This period reflects his commitment to social issues and his ability to use visual media to illuminate complex and often taboo subjects.
Thor‑Björn has Asperger’s syndrome and views his neurodiversity as a strength. He is proud of his functional variation, which he believes has contributed to his clarity, creativity, and ability to think deeply and differently in a world that often rewards the conventional.
In addition to his work as a programmer, Thor‑Björn has expressed his creative drive and reflective depth through literature. He has previously written three books of an autobiographical nature, in which he openly recounts a traumatic childhood and the challenges that have shaped him — both as a person and as a professional.

It took seven years for Thor‑Björn to bring his writing project to completion. 10/8/2026 | Goodbye, Meta!
At the turn of the year, Thor-Björn’s new life begins. He will try to find his way back to the person he was before social media diminished the quality of everyday life – both for himself and for so many others. The big change will come after midnight on New Year’s Eve, when he deactivates all his accounts on Meta’s platforms for an indefinite period. From January 1, 2027, when Thor-Björn enters his seventieth year, he will only be found on YouTube, Spotify and the new – highly personal – website tolle.nu. There, he will continue his journey by writing about the things that matter to him – without advertising and without algorithms deciding what is shown, or to whom. Feel free to subscribe with your email address on the website, and you will receive a notification whenever Thor-Björn publishes a new post. 20/7/2026 | The local stock is sold out!
Gabriel’s Last Journey is now sold out in the author’s own online store. More than 400 copies were sold during the first six weeks, but the books can still be ordered from Adlibris, Bokus, and Bookhero, with delivery within a few days. It is a result that has far exceeded expectations. At present, there are no plans for a new edition, though that could naturally change if something exceptional were to occur during the autumn. 6/1/2026 | The Circle is Complete: Today Begins the Journey Toward a More Equal Future!
After nearly seven years of intense work, the circle is complete and a grand life project is finally in port. Today marks the official release of all four parts in the book series Gabriel's Last Journey.
Even though some online booksellers jump-started sales as early as last week, this day marks the formal starting point. For this project, financial profit is not the driving force, but rather the goal of having the story and its essential message reach the readers.
Although the tetralogy is classified as science fiction, the genre serves primarily as a backdrop. Sometimes one must reach beyond our world to fully portray what is friction-ridden within it.
The launch is being softly introduced without grand release parties or loud advertising campaigns. These are books without an expiration date that remain relevant as long as our civilization faces its greatest challenges.

5/19/2026 | Gabriel's Last Journey pops up in an American music video!
Gabriel's Last Journey appears in an American music video by The Chaisen Hale Project – an emotionally charged, long-form epic told through music and cinematic world-building, often in unconventional ways, driven by new technology and pure human creativity. Not unlike Gabriel's own journey. Chaisen's story is rooted in a screenplay written over twenty years ago by Brian Gregory. The narrative revolves around a boy whose life is shaped by grief, survival, wonder, fear, and the search for meaning. It weaves together piece by piece – often non-linearly – where each episode is a music video revealing more about who he is, what he carries, and who he is becoming. 5/4/2026 | Seven years later: The long-awaited books arrived today!
Seven years of work have finally taken physical form! Thor-Björn has now held the finished books in his hands, and the result is every bit as beautiful as he had dared to dream. The local stock is replenished, Stardist has received the series, and preparations are in full swing.
The journey rests briefly at this station before continuing toward new horizons. On June 1, the books will be released—and Gabriel and his father David’s story will finally come to life.
4/12/2026 | Only two out of thirty publishers read the manuscript
After three months and twelve days, it is clear that almost no one bothered to read all four parts. The statistics confirm: 13 publishers never responded and eight sent form rejections. Out of the thirty publishers, only two read the entire tetralogy, while the majority read only a few pages or just the pitch. 11/28/2025 | Thor‑Björn’s music is now available on streaming
A selection of Thor‑Björn’s older songs has now found its way onto several streaming services. According to him, the tracks are far from professionally produced, but each carries clear imprints from different stages of his life. The earliest was written when he was thirteen, the most recent a decade ago. On three of the tracks Thor‑Björn sings himself, some feature guest artists, and the rest are instrumental pieces — often built around recurring themes. Both the music and the lyrics are entirely his own, created from what he calls the ‘persistent rhythms of a repetitive Asperger mind.’ Listen here.
09/22/2025 | Solind Media secures the rights to an iconic image from Åre
After successive acquisitions since December 2019, Solind Media — through Thor‑Björn Bergman — has now secured the full, though non‑exclusive, rights to Niclas Vestefjell’s magnificent photograph of the Åre Valley, taken from the summit of Totthummeln, the place where the first book ends.
